Light of Hope Ltd. and ICHD (Institute of Child and Human Development) signed an agreement to collaborate in different development areas of children, parents and teachers related to early childhood development.

ICHD Executive Director Mahmuda Akhter and Light of Hope CEO Waliullah Bhuiyan signed the agreement on February 3rd, 2020 at ICHD office. Dr. Manzoor Ahmed, Chairperson of ICHD Board of Management and Chairperson of Bangladesh ECD Network (BEN), Gopal Kumer Dey, Director, Program and Research, Light of Hope, Tahamina Rahman, Program Head, Kids Time (Light of Hope), Sharmin Easha, Manager, Light of Hope and Md. Mehedi Hasan, Program Manager, ICHD were present during the signing program.

There are 30 million children in primary schools in Bangladesh going to 130,000+ primary schools. About 70% of these children will get into a job that doesn’t exist today. Our early childhood learning at school and at home needs a massive makeover. And partnerships like this will be absolutely vital to provide large-scale innovative solutions to aware, educate and train teachers and parents. Moreover, partnerships between for-profit and non-profit organizations will drive innovation, quality product and service and sustainable business models.

Both organizations decided to work together based on their key strengths, mission and objectives. Areas of collaboration include training and capacity development of teachers, caregivers, parents on Early Childhood Development (ECD), development and production of contents, learning products for children, joint project development and implementation related to ECD, Special Needs children.

Moreover, both organizations will work together to initiate joint research, assessment, pilot projects related to early childhood development.

Both organizations believe this is going to be a wonderful journey together where private-non profit sector collaboration will encourage others to follow similar paths where large non-profits can use their expertise, skills and knowledge to develop market-based solutions for children, teacher and parents.

ICHD is one of the most reputed research and technical assistance organizations in Bangladesh and globally regarding the improvement of the young children and as well as developmental delays and special needs. ICHD and Light of Hope will start working immediately on developing a number of training curriculum and certificate courses for teachers, caregivers, nanny and parents focusing on various stages of early childhood development. Similarly, both organizations will focus on reaching out to more children with appropriate learning content and products as play-based learning tools and resources to help unleash their creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and empathy.
